THE GREAT REPEAL BILL

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has issued a call to arms against pointless regulation and unnecessary bureaucracy, asking the public how they want the Government to redress the balance between the citizen and the state.

"We're working to create a more open and less intrusive society through our Programme for Government. We want to restore Britain’s traditions of freedom and fairness, and free our society of unnecessary laws and regulations – both for individuals and businesses.

This site gives you the chance to submit, comment on, or vote for ideas about how we can do this. Your ideas will inform government policy and some of your proposals could end up making it into bills we bring before Parliament to change the law.

So if there are any laws or regulations you'd like us to do away with, then submit your idea. If you see ideas here already that you like the look of, then rate them and get them moved up the list. And if there’s more you’d like to say, then talk to others in the comments section for each proposal.

It’s time to have your say. After all – it’s your freedom."

Interesting. This looks like it could be a good start. Maybe, this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship between the government and the British people? I hope so.

Me too, Teresa, I hope they actually mean it and that they are not just going to implement the recommendations that appeal to them. *DONT_KNOW*

Yeah, yeah, yeah .. and a pig just flew up our street ...

The "Toytown Twosome" will just meddle about round the edges & nothing of any great importance will change ..

Power 2010 remains at the back of the mind - appeal to people and then did strange things to the lists.

I tend to agree, CH, I'm not very hopeful that we'll see the repeals we really want to see - after thirteen years of Labour spin, it just sounds like another headline-grabbing gimmick to me - still...... you never know, they might surprise us. *DONT_KNOW*

Power 2010 through a combination of impatience, rashness and incompetence showed themselves to be merely another front for the far Left, James and I can't yet bring myself to believe that this current "public consultation" isn't just another government PR scam. *DONT_KNOW*

This is encouraging, Spidey.  I hope something real and concrete comes of it! :-D

I was going to tell him myself but  at 01:12 in the morning that website appears to be crashed.

I was getting error messages on all of my browsers, Banned, but when I tried it one more time with Opera, I got a message saying they were updating the site to make it run more smoothly and that it should be up and running properly on Friday at 1:45am - so in fifteen minutes I'll be trying again.  ;)

So do I, Bunni - I really hope it's not just another bogus "public consultation" like the previous ones under lying Labour. *DONT_KNOW*

They were as good as their word, mate - it's running really fast, now - I've had no trouble getting through. :-P :-P :-P :-D :-D :-D

Cameron & Clegg will never be able to "surprise" us ...

UK Laws are no longer made in the UK, by the UK Government .. they're made in Brussels by the EUSSR .. and as Cameron & Clegg are a pair of impotent  "Euro-Whores" neither of whom has big enough balls to challenge their "Masters" ..  Nothing will change ..

"Move along, nothing to see here" ...

Again I agree, CH, because I'm a cynical bastard - I believe nothing until it actually happens - unless it's something negative to our democracatic rights, in which case it's bound to happen - the rest is usually window dressing to hide their tyrannical cuntishness. >:o

What I've yet to understand about this "Great Repeal" charade is why Cleggy is making all the going ..

I was under the impression that he was only the Deputy, the 2i/c, the side-kick ..

Surely, any proposed changes to UK legislation should be overseen by and announced by the "Prime" Minister, not the "also ran" ... or am I missing something here ?

It looks like the UK may be be moving in the right dirrection.  I wish the American government would be willing to listen to us.

Sheriff said...

I hope we're moving in the right direction, Trestin, but I'm not holding my breath - the Left-wing nutjobs are already trying to take over the threads on the government website. >:o

At least there is one consolation for you guys - you'll be able to tell the Obamanation what you think of him on 2nd November - and in no uncertain terms. ;) :-P :-D
