I was able to get my Gerry Rafferty post up in good time though, and I'm glad I did. I learned something new from an obit I read today - the sax solo in Baker Street was originally supposed to be piano but the musician didn't turn up and the sax player happened to be at the studio at the time. I didn't know, though, that the cheque they paid him with bounced! And what a famous sound that went on to be...
So many of the best ones over the years haven't been able to handle it, Bunni - you're right, money can't buy happiness and the music business has chewed a lot of people up and then spat them out. :(

That's a new one on me, too - I knew the solo wasn't originally supposed to be on sax but I had no idea that Raph Ravenscroft's cheque bounced! =-O
